Hello there, I'm Maria
I work as a project manager. I am a parent and an expat living in Lisbon, Portugal.
A few years ago, I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary contract gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Portugal wasn’t in the long-term plan. Like many expatriate relocations, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more significant.
The initial months were overwhelming — unfamiliar systems, routines, and expectations. Daily tasks seemed more complex than they needed to be.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, doubt, and plenty of learning on the job. Yet gradually routines took shape. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt steady.
Why I Built PolMarenVorn
Most online content was either corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism material. What was missing was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to bridge that gap—practical guidance grounded in real life in Portugal.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site is:
- Real-world insights from living in Portugal
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever a meaningful change occurs
This site is not:
- An official tourism authority resource
- A platform for sponsored reviews
- A generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our time in Portugal continues, and so does the learning process. As long as the information remains helpful, I’ll keep documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Lisbon or anywhere in Portugal, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Best regards,
Maria
